This isn't the traditional Brunswick stew with lima beans. A slightly sweet stew with barbeque pork, chicken, and beef are sure way to get a potential husband knocking on your door.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2/3 cup chopped white onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 pound cooked chicken , shredded
  • 2/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup hickory flavored barbeque sauce
  • 2 (14.75 ounce) cans creamed style corn
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dash hot sauce

Steps

    Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, and saute the onions and celery until soft. Add the minced garlic and cook for a minute stirring constantly.

    Add the pork and beef and cook until browned. Do not drain.

    Transfer the pork and beef mixture into a large pot on low heat. Stir in the shredded chicken, green bell pepper, chopped tomatoes and their liquid, ketchup, and barbeque sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Mixture will be thick. Simmer for 10 minutes.

    Stir the cream style corn into the pot. Continue simmering for 30 minutes or until desired thickness. Serve with warm bread.
