Green-Tomato Salsa

An easy-to-make fresh salsa using green tomatoes. You can vary the heat by adjusting the amount/type of chile. I love to serve with tortilla chips when we have friends over to watch football.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound green tomatoes or tomatillos, chopped
    • 2 tablespoons onion, chopped
    • 1  jalapeno chile, seeded and minced
    • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
    • 2 tablespoons lime juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
    • 2  avocados, pitted, peeled and cut into small chunks

    Directions

    1. 1Gently combine tomatoes, onion, chile, cilantro, lime juice, salt and pepper in medium glass bowl. Add avocado and toss ingredients together.
    2. 2Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes prior to serving. Serve with tortilla chips (and your favorite margarita).
