Tips & Techniques

  • High Altitude (3500-6500 ft):

    Grill over medium-low heat.

  • Tips

To reduce the fat in each serving of this recipe by about 7 grams, use fat-free mayonnaise.

  • It's important to separate the portion of the sauce you will be serving later. This ensures that bacteria from uncooked meat or fish will not contaminate the uncooked serving sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1  tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1  tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1  tablespoon honey
  • 1/4  cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 1 1/2  lb fresh salmon fillet
  • Cooking spray

Directions

  1. 1Broiling Directions: Place skin side up on broiler pan; do not spread with mustard mixture. Broil with top 4 to 6 inches from heat, using times above as a guide, turning once halfway through broiling and spreading with mustard mixture.
  2. 2Heat gas or charcoal grill. In small bowl, mix dill, mustard and honey. In small bowl, place 2 tablespoons mustard mixture; stir in mayonnaise until well blended. Refrigerate sauce until serving time. Reserve remaining mustard mixture for brushing on salmon.
  3. 3Spray skin side of salmon with cooking spray. Place salmon, skin side down, on grill over medium heat. Spoon reserved mustard mixture onto salmon, spreading evenly. Cover grill; cook 10 to 15 minutes or until fish flakes easily with fork. Serve mayonnaise-mustard sauce mixture with salmon.
