Just a half pound of sirloin takes a 30-minute salad for two from excellent to extraordinary.

Ingredients

1/2
lb boneless beef sirloin steak, 1 inch thick
1/8
teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
2
frozen soft white dinner rolls (from 13.3-oz bag)
3
cups torn salad greens
1
small red or yellow bell pepper, cut into strips
1/2
cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1
thin slice red onion, quartered
1/4
cup balsamic vinaigrette dressing

Directions

  • 1 Heat gas or charcoal grill. Place beef on grill. Cover grill; cook beef over medium heat 15 to 20 minutes, turning once, until desired doneness. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper; cut into 1/4-inch slices.
  • 2 Meanwhile, loosely wrap frozen rolls in heavy-duty foil. Place on grill over direct heat. Grill about 6 minutes, turning packet every 2 minutes, until hot.
  • 3 On 2 individual serving plates, place salad greens and vegetables; top with beef. Drizzle with dressing. Serve with rolls.
Tips

Have a bin full of veggies? Pile 'em high on this salad. Snap pea pods and shredded carrots would be especially tasty additions.
