Ham and Cheese Pretzel Bites

As prepared by Girl Versus Dough

Chips and salsa, move over. Ham and Cheese Pretzel Bites are here, and they're game-day munching at its best!

There is one thing I look forward to when game day season arrives -- and that thing is food.

Oh believe me, I’ve tried. I’ve tried to understand football. I’ve tried to watch a full basketball game without thinking about when I can take my next nap. I’ve tried to sit through an entire baseball game at the stadium without spending more time drooling over the giant pretzel with cheese the guy in front of me is devouring. But I just can’t do it. If you want to know the truth, I’m really just there for the food.

That is precisely why I am excited to tell you about these Ham and Cheese Pretzel Bites. Not only are they Tasty Town, they’re the perfect game-day food. The kind of food that will keep me happy throughout the whole game. Call me a total girly girl, fine. But I’m the one who brought the cheesy ham-filled pretzel bites – and a cheesy dipping sauce to go with it – so you best respect.

Or something.

Ingredients for pretzel bites recipe.

Here’s all you need to make these swirly bites of goodness. Use a Pillsbury pizza crust for some super shortcut action, some sliced cheddah, sliced deli ham, an egg and coarse sea salt.

Add ham and cheese slices.

Roll out the dough on a greased baking sheet and top it evenly with cheese and ham. We want full-on ham and cheese action in every bite, so make sure the entire rectangle of dough is covered.

Roll up the dough and cut into rounds.

Roll up the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal. Slice the log carefully with a sharp knife into 16 equal pieces, then place each piece cut side-down on the baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush it onto the dough. Sprinkle the sides and tops with coarse sea salt.

Bake the bites until they’re golden brown and the cheese is crazy melty. And in case these don’t already look totally amaze, we’re going to brush them with melted buttah for extra deliciousness.

Finally, serve them up with some warmed up Progresso Recipe Starter Creamy Three Cheese cooking sauce for extra cheesiness.

Let the games begin! Wait, people don’t say that, do they… I mean, let the game day eating season begin!

Dip the Bites into the sauce.

Much better.

If Stephanie (aka Girl Versus Dough) found herself on a desert island with only these bites and this dip, it would not suck. Check out Stephanie’s Tablespoon member profile and keep checking back for her own personal recipes on Tablespoon!
