Hard cider and red pepper sauce dress up Cheddar for a delightful warm cheesy dip. Let the slow cooker do all the work! Serve it with pretzel rods or apples as an elegant appetizer.

Ingredients

1
tablespoon all-purpose flour
1
teaspoon ground mustard
1/2
cup hard cider
1
teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1
teaspoon red pepper sauce
2
cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz)
8
oz American cheese loaf, cut into cubes (2 cups)
Thick pretzel rods, if desired
Apple wedges, if desired

Directions

  • 1 In ungreased 2-quart slow cooker, mix flour and mustard. In small bowl, mix cider, Worcestershire sauce and pepper sauce with whisk until blended. Stir into flour mixture until blended. Stir in Cheddar cheese and American cheese.
  • 2 Cover; cook on High heat setting 1 hour 30 minutes, stirring twice, until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth. Serve dip warm with pretzels and apples.
Tips

For best results, allow both cheeses to stand at room temperature about 1 hour before cooking.
