Ingredients

  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
  • 1/4 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup cooked cubed ham (such as leftover ham)
  • 1/2 cup well-drained pineapple tidbits
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Steps

  • 1
Preheat the oven to 425°F with your baking stone set inside for 30 minutes.
  • 2
On a cornmeal-sprinkled pizza peel (or other surface), roll out the pizza dough. Spread ricotta cheese over the dough surface, leaving a little room at the edge. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Spread the ham and pineapple over half of the dough and top that with shredded mozzarella cheese. Fold the dough over to form a pocket and press the edges to seal.
  • 3
Slide the calzone onto the baking stone and bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  • 4
Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

More About This Recipe

  • Let your leftover Christmas ham escape to the tropics with this awesome calzone recipe! Baked spiral ham is a Christmas tradition for our family. Every year, I look forward to the sweet slices of brown sugar glazed ham – and, even more so, the leftovers. Leftover ham is perfect for omelets, frittatas, sandwiches, homemade pizza and so much more. It’s also awesome for an easy homemade Hawaiian Calzone. Now, don’t let the total time on this recipe fool you. It takes awhile because I like to make it on a pizza stone, which gives it an amazing, crunchy crust. Because pizza stones have to be heated for 30 minutes (don’t worry – you can totally do this while preheating the oven), it looks like this takes a long time to make. It totally doesn’t. The actual cooking time is 15-20 minutes. Add in the 10 minutes prep and 5 minutes rest time and you have a simple meal that repurposes leftovers in an ingenious new way in about 30 minutes. Easy peasy. You start with a few simple ingredients – a Pillsbury Pizza Crust, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, Italian seasonings, ham and pineapple. Bake it up … and then before you know it, you have this amazing calzone –it serves four and is awesome with a big green salad.
  • If you like ham, you probably made a big one for Christmas dinner. Use up those leftovers in these tasty ways.
