Whip up a quick skillet of Italian sausage, mushrooms, red onion and bell pepper. It’s the perfect start to a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

pound bulk Italian sausage
3/4
cup sliced fresh mushrooms (2 ounces)
1/2
large red onion, cut into 1/8-inch slices

small green bell pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)

Directions

  • 1 Cook sausage in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink in center; drain.
  • 2 Stir in mushrooms and onion; reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender. Stir in bell pepper. Cover and simmer about 5 minutes or until bell pepper is crisp-tender.
Tips  

Wide egg noodles, penne, rigatoni or any of the larger-shaped pastas work well to frame or serve under this savory entrée.
