    Ingredients

    • 1  cup long grain white rice
    • 1  tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 2  cloves garlic, cut into thin slices
    • 1 1/2  cups water
    • 1/2  teaspoon salt

    Directions

    1. 1Place rice in small bowl. Cover with water; let stand for about 15 minutes. Pour rice and water through a sieve to remove excess water.
    2. 2Meanwhile, in a 1 ½-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic; cook and stir until light golden brown.
    3. 3Add rice, stirring often, for about 3 minutes. Add 1 ½ cups water and salt; bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 15 minutes.
    4. 4Remove garlic slices (floating on top of rice) with fork before serving.
