Fresh summer veggies star in this basil- and garlic-spiked salad.

Ingredients

large cucumbers, peeled or unpeeled, cut into about 2x1/2-inch sticks
2
medium tomatoes, cut into wedges
1
small onion, sliced
1/3
cup vegetable oil
1/3
cup lemon juice
1
tablespoon sugar
1/2
teaspoon salt
3/4
teaspoon chopped fresh basil leaves or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1
garlic clove, finely chopped
Betty Crocker™ Bac~Os® bacon flavor bits or chips

Directions

  • 1 Arrange cucumbers, tomatoes and onion in 2-quart shallow glass or plastic dish. Stir together remaining ingredients except bacon flavor bits; pour over vegetables.
  • 2 Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours to blend flavors; sprinkle with bacon flavor bits just before serving.
Tips  

Going on a picnic? Make and take this salad in a plastic bag with a zipper top. When you get to your picnic site, simply spoon it into a serving dish.

If your cucumbers are young, you can skip the peeling step. It’s only when cucumbers mature that their peels toughen slightly, making peeling necessary.
