Two kinds of chili powder perk up this decadent dark chocolate Chex mix. Bet you can't just have one handful!

Ingredients

3
cups Corn Chex™ cereal
3
cups Chocolate Chex™ cereal
2
cups Cinnamon Chex™ cereal
1
cup whole cashews
1/3
cup packed brown sugar
6
tablespoons butter or margarine
2
tablespoons light corn syrup
2
teaspoons ground ancho chile pepper
1/4
teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
1 1/2
teaspoons vanilla
1
cup dark chocolate chips

Directions

  • 1 In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals and cashews.
  • 2 In 2-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, chili and red pepper uncovered on high about 1 1/2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
  • 3 Microwave uncovered on high 5 to 6 minutes, stirring after every minute. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool. Break into bite-size pieces; stir in chocolate chips. Store in airtight container.
Tips

Pecan halves can be used in place of the cashews.

Dried ancho chile peppers are slightly fruity in flavor and the sweetest of the dried chiles.
