Old El Paso® Taco Seasoning Mix and Salsa add a Mexican twist to this classic English beef dinner - ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

lb. lean ground beef
1
medium onion, finely chopped
2
tablespoons Old El Paso™ Taco Seasoning Mix
1/2
cup Old El Paso™ Salsa
1/2
cup barbecue sauce

Directions

  • 1 In medium bowl, combine ground beef, onion and taco seasoning mix; mix well. Shape into 4 patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • 2 Spray medium nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Heat over medium heat until hot. Add patties; cook 5 to 6 minutes or until browned on both sides, turning once. Drain if necessary.
  • 3 Add salsa and barbecue sauce; mix well. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 to 12 minutes or until beef is thoroughly cooked, turning patties and stirring once or twice.
Tips  

Salisbury steak is a classic English recipe for seasoned ground beef patties served with pan gravy. The steak is named for J.H. Salisbury, a 19th-century English doctor who recommended eating beef to stay healthy. This south-of-the border version features spicy salsa gravy.

Salsa, the Mexican word for "sauce," is a raw or cooked mixture made with fruits and vegetables. The flavorful sauce are popular condiments for many Mexican recipes such as burritos and tacos, but salsa is also excellent served with meats, poultry and fish.

Serve this quick main dish with parsley potatoes and buttered corn.
