Ingredients

  • 4 Hot dogs (any kind will work)
  • 80 Spaghetti noodles (about 1/4 pound)
  • Water for boiling
  • Pasta sauce if desired

Steps

  • 1
With a sharp knife, slice the rounded ends off of the hot dogs, then slice each hot dog into 4 equal chunks.
  • 2
Slide 5 spaghetti noodles into each hot dog chunk, threading the meat about half-way onto the noodle (so equal lengths of noodle are on both sides of the hot dog chunk). Repeat until all noodles and hot dog pieces are threaded.
  • 3
In a large pan, bring 10-12 cups of water to a boil. Add Noodle Weenies, allowing them to sink into the water. (Don't push them down or the noodles will break off.)
  • 4
Reduce heat to medium, keeping a low rolling boil. Cook Noodle Weenies per the time recommended on the noodle package. (About 8 to 10 minutes.) Check noodles for doneness.
  • 5
When noodles are cooked, remove Noodle Weenies from boiling water with tongs or drain pot into a colander. Serve immediately with pasta sauce (if desired), salad and breadsticks.

More About This Recipe

  • These Noodle Weenies are a silly and fun way to get creative with dinner! Inspired by this article we found on Helablog.com we had to give these Noodle Weenies a try! You can make these at Mach 2 (that's fast). And oh yeah, they are way fun -- and easy too. Kids and adults alike will try to figure out how you shoved those limp little lengths of pasta through their husky hunks of hot dog! No need to spill the beans -- it can be your secret. If your kids are younger than 10, they might even think you're a cooler wizard than Harry Potter. No need to add salt or oil to the water for boiling. The hot dogs will take care of that stuff. Tip: Don't push the noodles down into the water or they will break and ruin the concept! Let them cook down until soft, then gently stir them now and then just to keep them from getting too cozy with each other. Cook per directions on the pasta package. Use tongs to remove each weenie from the water, or drain the whole batch in a colander. Serve with a small salad, Muir Glen™ pasta sauce, and Pillsbury™ breadsticks on the side. Now if they'd only had this recipe back when they wrote the song, "On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheeeeese..." Yep. They wouldn't have lost that poor meatball when somebody sneezed.
