Mac and cheese gets elevated to the next delicious level with this creamy one-pan version, enhanced with apple butter and bacon.

Ingredients

2
cups uncooked medium shell pasta
2
cups milk
1/2
cup shredded gouda cheese
1/2
cup shredded white cheddar cheese
1/4
cup cooked crumbled bacon
1/4
cup apple butter
1
tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • 1 In a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat, bring pasta and milk to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring often, 15 to 20 minutes until pasta is tender and most of the milk is absorbed.
  • 2 Stir in shredded cheese, bacon, apple butter, rosemary and salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  • 3 Let stand 5 minutes to thicken, then stir again just before serving.
Tips

To make this a completely one-pan meal, you can cook the bacon in the skillet prior to making the pasta. Just be sure to drain the fat and wipe the skillet clean before adding the pasta and milk.

Feel free to play around with the cheese varieties: Use more gouda than white cheddar, or vice versa, etc.
