Butter Cake. Could there be more perfect words in a single recipe? Yep: Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Bars. You're welcome.
Butter cake is a fun dessert. It takes vanilla cake mix, turns it into a soft, splendidly sweet base, then tops it with a truly delicious cream-cheese vanilla layer that bakes until the top is ever-so-slightly crunchy and everything underneath is like custardy and brilliant.
Take all of these parts and pieces, toss them together into Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Bars, and this recipe may be as good as dessert gets. Here's how to make this incred recipe and have it in your mouth asap!
Grab yourself a box of Betty Crocker French Vanilla Cake Mix and prepare to partay!
Mix the cake mix together with a stick of melted butter and an egg. Butter cake. Oh yeah.
Press the cake mix into the bottom of a parchment-lined 9x9 baking dish. It doesn't have to be perfect, just toss it all in there and press it down with your fingertips.
Now toss cream cheese, two eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla into a stand mixer to make your ooey gooey layer. Just mix it until it becomes smooth and pudding-like in consistency.
Spread this ooey gooey layer over the top of your cake mix layer. Bake until the edges of your cake are golden brown and the center of the cake bars have set, about 45 minutes. Then (and this part is crazay important) let them cool COMPLETELY before slicing with a clean, sharp knife.
What are you waiting for?! You're done! Stuff your face and thank your lucky stars for your awesome mad cooking skillz. (Just don't tell anybody how easy these were!)
You so rock it out, you butter cake queen, you.
