  • 1  cup sugar
  • 1/2  cup water
  • 1 1/2  cups milk
  • 1  teaspoon vanilla
  • 1  teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 8  egg yolks
  • 1  (14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • CAKE
  • 1  package Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1/2  cup dairy sour cream
  • 1/2  cup water
  • 1/4  cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1  teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 3  eggs

Directions

  3. In large bowl, combine all cake ingredients at low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Spoon batter evenly over milk mixture.

  4. Fill shallow pan half full with water; place on lowest oven rack. Place cake pans on middle oven rack. Bake at 350°F. for 35 to 45 minutes or until cakes spring back when touched lightly in center. Cool 30 minutes; invert onto serving plates. Serve warm or cool. Store in refrigerator.
