Orange adds a tangy twist to this colorful dessert made using various fruits.

Ingredients

1/4
cup sugar
2
tablespoons thin orange peel strips or grated orange peel
1/4
cup orange juice
2
tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur, if desired
2
cups pineapple cubes
2
cups cantaloupe balls
1
pint (2 cups) fresh strawberries

Directions

  • 1 In resealable plastic bag or large nonmetal bowl, combine sugar, orange peel, orange juice and liqueur; blend well. Add pineapple and cantaloupe. Seal bag or cover bowl; refrigerate 4 hours or overnight, turning or stirring once or twice.
  • 2 Just before serving, add strawberries to fruit mixture. If desired, garnish serving bowl or individual servings with mint leaves and additional orange peel strips.
Tips  

If you´re a mint lover, add a tablespoon or two of shredded mint leaves to the fruit mixture in addition to the garnish. Serve the fruit solo, over plain cake or topped with a scoop of sorbet.
