Toasting the walnuts gives this quick-fix salad an extra-special touch!

Ingredients

Salad

cups bite-size pieces romaine lettuce

red pear, thinly sliced

tablespoons crumbled blue cheese

tablespoons coarsely chopped walnuts, toasted

Cider Vinaigrette

tablespoons walnut, olive or vegetable oil

teaspoons cider vinegar

teaspoon Dijon mustard

teaspoon salt

teaspoon pepper

clove garlic, finely chopped

Directions

  • 1 In medium bowl, mix all salad ingredients.
  • 2 In tightly covered container, shake all vinaigrette ingredients until well blended. Add to salad; toss to mix.
Tips

To toast walnuts, heat oven to 350ºF. Bake in an ungreased shallow pan about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
