This pear pie is a succulent baked dessert with a sweet crumble topping.

Ingredients

medium pears, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch slices (about 5 cups)

cups sugar

teaspoon grated lemon peel

tablespoons lemon juice

frozen pie crust (9 inch)

cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour

teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2
teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4
teaspoon ground mace
1/3
cup cold butter or margarine

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, gently toss pears, 3/4 cup of the sugar, the lemon peel and lemon juice. Spoon into frozen pie crust.
  • 2 In medium bowl, mix flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, the nutmeg, cinnamon and mace. Cut in butter, using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through ingredients in opposite directions), until mixture looks like coarse meal. Sprinkle evenly over pears. Place pie on cookie sheet.
  • 3 Bake 1 hour or until pears are tender and topping is lightly browned. Cool on cooling rack about 2 hours.
