Pecans, pralines and bacon? We went there (and we're never going back)!

Ingredients

Crust

1 1/2
cups Gold Medal™ flour
1/2
cup packed dark brown sugar
1
cup butter or margarine, softened
1
package (2.1 oz) precooked bacon, cut into 1/4-inch slices

Praline Frosting

1/2
cup whipping cream
1/3
cup butter or margarine
1 1/2
cups packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2
cups powdered sugar
1
teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2
cups pecan halves

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 325°F. In medium bowl, stir together flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Beat in 1 cup butter with electric mixer on medium speed until blended; stir in bacon. Press in bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until center is set. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • 2 In 1-quart saucepan, heat whipping cream, 1/3 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups brown sugar to boiling over medium heat, stirring frequently. Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat. Using whisk, stir in powdered sugar and the vanilla until smooth.
  • 3 Spread praline frosting over cooled crust; sprinkle with pecans. Let stand 30 to 45 minutes until frosting is set but not firm. Cut into 8 rows by 4 rows. Store covered in refrigerator.
Tips

To prevent frosting from cracking, be sure to cut bars 30 to 45 minutes after frosting. Frosting will be slightly warm but set.
