From Betty's Soul Food Collection... Mamma Mia! This extra-special snack is a little bit like a pizza, a little bit like Italian garlic bread, and a whole lot like a family favorite in the making.

Ingredients

1/4
teaspoon garlic powder
1/4
teaspoon salt, if desired
1/4
teaspoon dried basil leaves, crushed
1/4
teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1
can (12 oz) Pillsbury™ Golden Layers® flaky original or buttermilk refrigerated biscuits
4 1/2
teaspoons olive oil
1/4
cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4
cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4
cup shredded mozzarella cheese (1 oz)
2
tablespoons grated Romano or Parmesan cheese

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 400°F. In small bowl, mix garlic powder, salt, basil and oregano.
  • 2 Separate dough into 10 biscuits. Place 1 biscuit in center of ungreased cookie sheet. Arrange remaining biscuits in circle, edges slightly overlapping, around center biscuit. Gently press out to form 10-inch round.
  • 3 Brush biscuits with oil. Top with bell peppers and cheeses. Sprinkle garlic powder mixture over top.
  • 4 Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. To serve, pull apart warm biscuits.
Tips

Instead of the mozzarella cheese, try an Italian cheese blend.
