Pina Colada Cake

After I took the cake out from the oven, I sprinkled it with a little bit of Malibu rum and let it cool, then frosted with the Cool Whip. Ohhhhhhh yum!

what is wrong here? angel food cake mix +8 ounce of crushed pineapple unsweetened that is all you have to do, do not add anything else this is so simple my granddaughter makes this.

Good golly, it is so simple. THIS particular recipe has only 2 ingredients for the cake: the dry cake mix & the can of crushed pineapple including juice. The juice in the can and the juicy fruit replace all other items on the box and make a nice mooist angel food cake. There are many other versions out there, but this is the easiest, quickest, least fattening and is just yummy in my book! Also, I sometimes add a sprinkle of coconut to the batter since I often eat it without the whipped topping. ENJOY!

This cake is so terribly sweet I could not eat it. Had one piece, and threw the rest away. AWFUL

I used it with just 4 ingredients. I didn't make the angel food batter as directed on the box. Just pineapples and cake mix. It turned out fantastic!!! I had to toast my own coconut in the oven, but it was so easy, and so good. I was confused by the reviews I was reading telling me different ways to make the batter, but I just used the four ingredients it called for and it turned out amazing.

I think it would work both ways. If youmake the cake batter, then you have to drain the pineapple. If you're going to use the pineapple juice, then just mix the angel food cake mix powder with it.

I'm surprised they only want you to use an 8 oz can of pineapple... I use the bigger can when I make the angel food cake/pineapple cake or muffins. I really don't think the 8 oz will work

try it both ways....see which one u like better..they both work..but if u drain the pineapple make sure its really drained all the way if its not then the cake wont rise like it supposed too it will come out flat

You mix the pineapple into the dry cake mix, you do not make the cake mix according to the directions on the box then add the pineapple...just the cake mix and the pineapple.

I make something similar to this, but I add a 20 oz can of crushed pineapple, to the angel food cake mix, and whip a sm pkg of instant vanilla pudding into the cool whip to make an icing type topping. Next time I think I will add the toasted coconut to the top.

U would make it according to te box directions because it says on the notes it's made wih egg whites only

Instead of coconut I put another can of crushed pineapple on top. Oh, so yummy!

I dudnt think Angel food cske woulld rise in a greasef pan.

In large bowl, stir together cake mix and pineapple; it says nothing about making the cake batter and adding pineapple

I always recommend following the directions carefully, @tikababy27. According to this recipe, I believe you simply mix the pineapple (juices included) with the angel food mix, leaving out the package instructions.

Comments are misleading. Which is it. Just cake mix & pineapple or cake mix, follow the directions & than the pineapple?

I've made the simple, yummy cake so often. Our family loves it!! The flavor is great. Because some people don't like coconut...I use coconut flavoring in the cool whip and crushed pecans or walnuts on top.

Anonymous - NO - you simply pour the cake mix into a bowl and mix in the pineapple and bake. 7 months too late, but hope this helps! :)

yes, prepare it according to the box directions. drain the pineapple. then mix together.

I'm a bit confused... do you need to prepare the angel food cake according to the directions on the box, or just mix it with the pineapple and bake in the oven?!
