Powdered Sugar Icing

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

    Mix powdered sugar, vanilla and milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until spreadable (mixture will thicken slightly as it sets).

  • Transform this powdered sugar glaze by adding a little coconut, almond or any of your other favorite flavored extracts.
  • For a richer icing, add a tablespoon of butter extract to the glaze. The buttery flavor will taste especially great with butter-based desserts.
  • To prevent the icing from running, make sure your dessert is completely cool before adding the powdered sugar frosting.
  • Store any unused frosting in an airtight container; refrigerate and use within five days. Before reusing, bring icing to room temp and give it a good stir.
