1 lb. lean ground beef
cup Progresso® Italian Style Bread Crumbs
2 tablespoons milk
1 egg, beaten
2 oz. provolone cheese, cut into four 1/2-inch-thick pieces
cup Progresso® Marinara Sauce
4 onion buns, split, or 8 slices coarse-textured bread
1 garlic clove, peeled, cut in half

  • 1 GRILL DIRECTIONS: Heat grill. In medium bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk and egg; mix well. Shape mixture into 8 patties, 4 inches in diameter. Place 1 piece of cheese on each of 4 patties; top with remaining patties. Pinch edges to seal well; flatten slightly.
  • 2 When ready to grill, place patties on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 12 to 16 minutes or until thoroughly cooked and cheese is melted, turning once.
  • 3 Meanwhile, heat marinara sauce in small saucepan over low heat until hot.
  • 4 While patties cook, place onion buns, cut side down, on grill. Grill until lightly toasted. While hot, rub cut side of garlic on toasted sides of buns.
  • 5 To serve, spread 1 tablespoon marinara sauce on bottom half of each bun. Top each with burger, 1 tablespoon marinara sauce and top half of bun.
