    No changes.

  • Serve With

Serve this home-style dish with a bagged ready-to-eat salad from the produce section.

  • Substitution

You can use 1 cup of your favorite frozen vegetable combination instead of the peas and carrots.

  • Success

Notes

®Bisquick is a Reg. T.M. of General Mills

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2  cups milk

Northerners call Southern's chicken n dumplings Pot Pie other wise in German it's Bot Boi...traditional Amish fare in the North. Pot Pie in the North is a Meat Pie with layers of Pie crust either 1 just on top or 2 top and bottom.

I made this and everyone loved it, and so easy, I used canned carrots and green beans instead of the frozen veg.

Can this recipe be baked in the oven? I thought I might try baking it after I have prepare everything. I'll just put it alli in either a 9x13 (double recipe) or an 8x8 pan for a single recipe. I don't think it would hurt. Just gotta cook the dumpling through.

Wondering if I could use half and half instead of milk! And to the person who posted about the Chicken and Mushroom soup, Campbell's makes it! And it's really delicious!

Haha... As a multi-generational Southerner, I feel obligated to note that this recipe bears little to no resemblance to what most southerners would call chicken and dumplin's; it is more like a quickie version of a chicken pot pie. It may be delicious, but if you put this in front of a traditional Southerner, and called it chicken and dumplings, I strongly suspect they'd be very confused... ;D

Everyone wish me luck! I never cook and Im ashamed to say it. As one of my New Year's Resolutions, old habits have to go so here I am. I want my kids to eat healthier and eat homecooked meals. So here goes nothing. The one thing my kids want to see is after my chicken dumplings are finished, they want to see if they turn out just like the above pic. So wish me luck! And thank you for the recipe. If it turns out good, guess where I will be for tomorrows meal? Here goes nothing! Off to the kitchen I go! Wish me luck. LLL

Is this recipe calling for 1 1/2 cups milk or 1/2 cup? The way it is pictured, it is slightly confusing.

This is a perfect warm you up dinner. Perfect for that left over chicken or the rotisserie chicken from the store. I always use the lighter Bisquick
