Rainbow Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 box (19.1 oz) Betty Crocker™ Delights Supreme Fudge Brownie Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • OR replace butter, cream, sugar with 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Food coloring gel

Steps

    Bake and cool brownies as directed for an 8x8 pan.

    Alternately add the cream and powdered sugar to the butter and beat until smooth. If it is too thick, add more cream; if it is too thin add more sugar.

    Divide the frosting equally into a cup for each color.
  • 4
    Add a few drops of food coloring at a time to each cup until desired shade is reached.

    Transfer each color of frosting to separate plastic bags. Snip off a corner of the first bag and pipe stripes onto the brownies. Repeat with other colors.

    Use a pastry scraper or flat spatula to smooth out the frosting. Be very careful not to do this too much or colors will blend. Wipe the scraper after every swipe. You might want to touch it up a little at the end, piping any frosting in where there are patches, and carefully smoothing them over.

  • For even easier frosting, start with 1 tub of Betty Crocker™ vanilla frosting (and omit the butter, cream, and powdered sugar).
