    Ingredients

    • 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
    • 1 cup unsalted sweet cream butter
    • 6 large eggs
    • 2 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
    • 3 Cups All Purpose Flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 Cup Milk
    • 7 Colors (or which ever colors you want to use) Gel Food Colorings
    • 1 Box Vanilla Instant Pudding

    Directions

    1. 1Preheat oven to 350. Spray 8 in round pans with cooking spray.
    2. 2Prepare cake batter. (You could also use a boxed cake mix to save time and will have the same results)
    3. 3In a medium bowl cream together butter and sugar.
    4. 4Beat in eggs one at a time
    5. 5Then add Vanilla to the creamed mixture
    6. 6In a seperate bowl whisk together dry ingredients- flour, baking powder and pudding mix.
    7. 7Add flour mixture to the cream mixture, stirring until combined.
    8. 8Add milk and stir until creamy.
    9. 9Seperate the cake batter into smaller bowls (one for each color you plan on using). Add gel food coloring to each bowl until you reach desired color. Remember that the colors will fade slightly when baking, so take that into account when adding colors.
    10. 10Bake each layer seperately for 10-12 minutes.
    11. 11Let cool and frost with your favorite frosting. ( I prefer white buttercream, but make it you own ;-)
    12. 12Decorate however you like, I used dum dums!

What does it mean by spray 8? And if you are baking each layer separately, lodes that mean the ingredients listed are for each section, or for the whole cake??

Hi! Yes, you are correct! This recipe requires you to separate the cake batter to bake individually for each color.

This is great. Making for my daughters bday. So I actually bake each layer separate? So if I break it into seven cups or whatever I bake each cup a different color correct? Thanks

I get the sugar, butter, eggs, van ext, flour, baking powder & milk for cake mix, and colouring... so what do you use the vanilla pudding for? Is that what you put btwn the layers?

Made this cake for my daughter's 12th birthday. It was just awesome when we sliced it. Very impressive. It wasn't so hard - I used a boxed white cake mix and made six layers. The volume of the cake batter was exactly 6 cups, so this was soooo easy. Will definitely make this again!
