    Ingredients

    • 2 cups Bisquick
    • 2  eggs
    • 1 cup milk
    • gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
    • whipped cream (for "clouds)
    • Lucky Charms (for the "treasure)

    Directions

    1. 1In a large bowl, whisk together Bisquick, eggs and milk until smooth.
    2. 2Divide the batter into six portions, around 1/3 cup each, giving a little extra to the bowls for the red and orange colors.
    3. 3Use gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) to color each bowl of batter to your desired vibrancy. Whisk in food coloring until evenly blended.
    4. 4Transfer each color of batter to its own piping bag and cut off the tips (careful not to spill the batter).
    5. 5Carefully pour each color into a heated circle waffle maker to make your "rainbow", starting with red, then orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Cook according to waffle maker instructions.
    6. 6Remove, and repeat with remaining batter. Cut each waffle in half.
    7. 7Serve with whipped cream for "clouds" and Lucky Charms as the "treasure" at the end of the rainbow.

Thx for your quick reply! The waffle maker I used didn't have a multiple setting option so I'm going to try again with a machine that has a low setting.

Hi @Anonymous! If you're concerned about the waffles browning too quickly, I would recommend watching them very closely or setting your waffle maker to its lowest setting. (Most waffle makers indicated doneness when the red light goes either off or on — check your manual before starting to cook the waffles for best result.)

Thanks for sharing this great idea. How did you prevent the waffle from browning as it cooks? The toasted color is preventing my rainbow coloring from shining through. Thanks again!

Hi! This works best when you start from the center and continue to build the rainbow by pouring the fillings directly in the center. This will create layers so that each waffle has some of each color.

Do you start on the outside and work your way in? Or start in the center and work your way out?

@mspader Be sure to find a round waffle maker (Belgian) for these ones to make the rainbow. Enjoy! ;)
