Ingredients

Fondue

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 8 oz mildly sweet dark chocolate, chopped

Dipper Ideas

  • Apple wedges
  • Orange sections
  • Maraschino cherries with stems
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Strawberries
  • Large marshmallows
  • Pound cake cubes

Steps

    In 2-quart saucepan, heat all fondue ingredients over medium heat, stirring constantly, just until chocolate is melted. Pour mixture into fondue pot; keep warm over low heat.

    Spear desired dippers with fondue forks; dip into fondue.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
    By definition, there can be no milk in dark chocolate. For this recipe, choose a mildly sweet chocolate. If the label states cocoa solids (also called chocolate liquor), select one that contains at least 35%. However, the higher the percentage of cocoa solids, the more bitter the chocolate will be.
  • tip 2
    The fruit pieces need to be dry when dipping them into the fondue. If they're slightly wet, the chocolate might not stick as well.
