Set the slow cooker to simmer all day, and you can come home to a spicy-sweet tomato sauce to ladle over noodles.

Ingredients

6
Italian sausage links (about 1 1/2 lb), cut into 1-inch pieces
1
cup finely chopped onions (2 medium)
3
tablespoons sugar
1
teaspoon dried basil leaves
1
teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2
teaspoon salt
2
cloves garlic, minced
1
can (28 oz) Muir Glen™ organic diced tomatoes, undrained
2
cans (8 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato sauce
2
cans (6 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato paste
24
oz uncooked spaghetti

Directions

  • 1 In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix all ingredients except spaghetti.
  • 2 Cover; cook on Low heat setting 6 to 8 hours.
  • 3 About 30 minutes before serving, cook spaghetti as directed on package. Drain. If desired, skim and discard fat from sauce. Serve sauce over spaghetti.
Tips

This recipe was tested in slow cookers with heating elements in the side and bottom of the cooker, not in cookers that stand only on a heated base. For slow cookers with just a heated base, follow the manufacturer’s directions for layering ingredients and choosing a temperature.
