    Ingredients

    • 6 whole apples
    • 1  cup apple juice
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 whole lemon peel

    Directions

    1. 1Peel and chop apples into small pieces.
    2. 2Add to the slow cooker and cover with apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, salt, and lemon peel.
    3. 3Cook on HIGH until the apples come to a bubble.
    4. 4Reduce heat to LOW and cook for 6 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally. The apples will have thickened.
    5. 5Take out the lemon peel. Puree until smooth if desired.
