    Ingredients

    • 1 (15 ounce) container part-skim ricotta cheese
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 pound ziti pasta
    • 2 (25.5 ounce) cans Muir Glen pasta sauce (I used one can of Fire Roasted tomato pasta sauce for some extra kick)
    • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil leaves

    Directions

    1. 1In a medium bowl, combine all three cheeses and the salt. In another medium bowl pour the pasta sauce and stir to combine if using two different flavors.
    2. 2Pour ziti into a colander and rinse with cold water allowing the water to stick to the pasta.
    3. 3Spray the inside of 4-6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray.
    4. 4Pour half of the pasta in an even layer on the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour half of the pasta sauce on top. Evenly distribute half of the cheese mixture over the pasta sauce. Repeat again layering the pasta, pasta sauce, and cheese mixture. Sprinkle the chopped basil on top.
    5. 5Pour 2/3 cup water into the slow cooker and place the lid on top. Cook on high for 2-3 hours or until pasta is tender.

Made this for a family Christmas Party. Was a little afraid but it was amazingly easy and everyone really liked it. I also made 1 crockpot using spinach and mushroom and no meat. That was also a big hit .

Made this a few weeks ago. It turned out very well and tasted delicious. We liked it meatless, but I think I'd try it with browned Italian sausage next time.

You could add beef, sausage, or chicken. Make sure you brown the beef or sausage before you add it or cook your chicken. I would add 3/4 to 1 pound of meat. I would add the meat to the pasta sauce

What about meat? What would you add, how much, and how would you add it?
