Slow-Cooker Better Than Sex Cake

Whats better than Better Than Sex Cake? BTS Cake that makes itself! Just toss it in your slow-cooker and come back from work, shopping, skating – whatever – to a sinfully sweet dessert!

Ingredients

1
box (15.25 oz) Betty Crocker™ SuperMoist™ Cake Mix Triple Chocolate Fudge
1 1/4
cups water
3/4
cup vegetable oil
3
eggs
1
tablespoon vanilla extract
1
can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1
cup milk chocolate chips
1
jar (14 oz) caramel ice cream topping (reserve some for garnish, if desired)
1
cup chocolate-covered toffee bits (reserve some for garnish, if desired)
1
can spray whipped cream (or homemade, if preferred)

Directions

  • 1 Grease or spray crock of the slow-cooker well, and line the bottom with wax or parchment paper. In a stand mixer, combine cake mix, water, oil, eggs, vanilla and 1/2 of the can of sweetened condensed milk. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into slow cooker.
  • 2 Sprinkle the milk chocolate chips over the top of the batter. Cover slow cooker and cook on high for 2-3 hours. (Check for doneness after 2 hours, as slow cookers vary widely in temperature.)
  • 3 Meanwhile, reserve some of the caramel sauce and toffee bits for garnish, if desired. Set reserved portions aside. In a bowl, combine remaining sweetened condensed milk and remaining caramel sauce and mix well.
  • 4 When cake is done, carefully remove the crock from the slow cooker. With a long skewer, pierce cake almost (but not quite) all the way to the bottom, all over the cake, making many holes. Pour caramel sauce over cake, then sprinkle with toffee bits, covering the top of the cake. Allow cake to cool completely and caramel sauce to sink in, then refrigerate cake for 1 hour.
  • 5 When ready to serve, remove crock from refrigerator and cut cake into squares. Top each piece with whipped cream, then drizzle with reserved caramel sauce and sprinkle with reserved toffee bits.

What could be better than Better Than Sex Cake? Better Than Sex Cake made in the slow cooker!

As prepared by tbspSusan,

Is it really better? Make it and see!

Better Than Sex Cake has been around awhile. But I bet you've never made it this way before!

Why the slow cooker? Well, for one, you can keep your oven free. Why do you wanna do that? Well, maybe you've got other stuff stuffing your oven this time of year.

Or, maybe you're going out. Work, shop, go for a run, meet your friend for drinks. It doesn't matter – while you're gone, your cake is baking itself!

Here's the easy how-to:

Better then Sex Cake

The hardest part of this recipe? Keeping your mouth from gobbling all the great goodies that go into it!

Better then Sex Cake

Make the batter from cake mix, water, oil, eggs, vanilla and half of the sweetened condensed milk. Pour it into your greased slow cooker and sprinkle milk chocolate chips over it all. I know. Come on. Really?

Bake it for 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Watch it the last half hour, 'cause slow cookers are like snowflakes – seems like no two are alike.

When it's done, take the crock out so the cake stops baking.

Set it on a cooling rack and let it cool 5 minutes, then poke holes all over it with a skewer. Don't poke down to through the bottom, but get pretty close.

Better then Sex Cake

Combine the other half of the sweetened condensed milk with the caramel sauce and pour that over the warm cake.

Then sprinkle the top right away with the chocolate-covered toffee bits.

I lied before. THIS is really the hardest part of this recipe -- you've gotta wait for it to cool!

Just kidding. You CAN wait for it to cool if you want to. I do – to let that caramely stuff get all soaked into the cake good 'n righteous like.

But if you must, you may scoop it out right now and slather it with whipped cream and chow down. I wouldn't blame you one bit. It's soooo good that way. I have no idea why I'd know that...

When it's cool, cut into squares. Cover each piece with whipped cream, then wave your magic wand over it so caramel drizzle and toffee bits sprinkle down from the heavens.

You're entitled. Go on. See for yourself if this isn't better than...you know!
