Sugar-sprinkled, melt-in-your-mouth cookies are a breeze. Just stir fresh butter, an egg and a little flour into a cookie mix, then roll and bake.

Ingredients

pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1
tablespoon Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/3
cup butter or margarine, softened
1
egg
1
container Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy creamy white or Whipped fluffy white frosting
White decorator sugar crystals, if desired

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, flour, softened butter and egg until soft dough forms.
  • 2 On floured surface, roll dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2- to 3-inch cookie cutters. On ungreased cookie sheets, place cutouts 1 inch apart.
  • 3 Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.
  • 4 Spread frosting on cooled cookies. Decorate as desired with decorator sugar crystals. Store cookies in tightly covered container.
Tips  

Roll dough to an even thickness by rolling between clean wooden dowels or rulers of the same thickness.

Cut cookies with a cutter dipped in flour or powdered sugar. Cutting shapes as close together as possible on the rolled dough helps you avoid rerolling the dough scraps (rerolled dough will be a little tougher).
