Add something spicy to your dinner with these bulgur and barley balls – a distinctive meal!

Ingredients

2 1/4
cups cooked bulgur
1 1/2
cups cooked barley
1/4
cup milk
2
tablespoons dry bread crumbs
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/4
teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4
teaspoon ground allspice
1
egg, beaten
1/4
cup ground walnuts
2
tablespoons margarine or butter

Directions

  • 1 Mix all ingredients except walnuts and margarine. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in walnuts.
  • 2 Melt margarine in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Cook balls in margarine 10 to 12 minutes, turning frequently, until light brown.
Tips

These bulgur-and-barley balls can be used in all the same ways as meatballs. Line them up in a hot dog bun, drizzle with ketchup and mustard and you have a great sandwich. Or top pasta with your favorite sauce and these tasty little grain balls.
