Ingredients

lb. soft-shell clams (about 24)

teaspoons salt
1/4
cup butter, melted

Directions

  • 1 Wash clams thoroughly under cold running water. Place in large bowl; cover with cold water and salt. Let stand 15 minutes. Drain.
  • 2 In large saucepan, bring 1/2 inch water to a boil. Add clams. Cover tightly; steam over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes or until shells open.
  • 3 Remove any sand from cooking broth by straining through several layers of cheesecloth. Serve clams with cups of cooking broth and melted butter.
