Berries and cream fans, this recipe is for you! A tasty cream cheese filling gets topped with fresh strawberries and chocolate drizzle for an easy, dreamy dessert.

Ingredients

Crust

box Pillsbury™ refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box

Filling

package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/3
cup sugar
1/4
teaspoon almond extract
1
cup whipping cream, whipped

Topping

4
cups fresh strawberries, hulled, halved
1/2
cup semisweet chocolate chips
1
tablespoon shortening

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 450°F. Bake pie crust as directed on box for One-Crust Baked Shell using 10-inch tart pan with removable bottom or 9-inch glass pie plate. Cool completely on cooling rack.
  • 2 In large bowl, beat cream cheese with electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Gradually add sugar and almond extract; beat well. Fold in whipped cream. Spread filling into cooled baked shell. Arrange strawberry halves over filling. Refrigerate while making chocolate drizzle.
  • 3 In 1-quart saucepan, melt chocolate chips and shortening over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth. Drizzle over strawberries and filling. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes. Remove tart from side of pan. Store in refrigerate.
Tips  

For a white drizzle, use white vanilla baking chips instead of chocolate chips.

For a different look, leave the strawberries whole and dip the pointed end of each berry into melted chocolate so it's half covered. Place dipped berries, stem ends down, on waxed paper-lined tray. Refrigerate until set. Arrange berries on top of filling.

If you enjoy a more pronounced almond flavour, use another 1/4 teaspoon almond extract in the filling.
