Ingredients

oz. uncooked rice sticks*
1/4
cup soy sauce
2
tablespoons brown sugar
2
tablespoons rice or cider vinegar
1/4
teaspoon dry mustard

garlic cloves, minced

lb. lean boneless beef sirloin or eye of round steak
2
green onions, cut lengthwise into thin strips and crosswise into 1-inch pieces

Directions

  • 1 In large saucepan, bring 8 cups water to a boil over high heat. Break rice sticks into water; return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook 3 minutes. Drain rice sticks; return to saucepan.
  • 2 In small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, dry mustard and garlic; mix well. Place beef in resealable plastic bag or shallow dish; pour sauce over beef. Seal bag or cover dish. Let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes to marinate, turning beef once to coat both sides.
  • 3 Place beef on broiler pan; pour marinade into small saucepan. Broil beef 2 to 3 inches from heat for 3 minutes. Turn; broil an additional 3 to 6 minutes for medium-rare or to desired doneness. Let stand 3 minutes; cut into 1/8-inch-thick strips.
  • 4 Bring marinade to a boil. Reserve 2 tablespoons; pour remaining marinade over noodles and toss gently. Place noodles on serving platter. Top with beef; drizzle with reserved marinade. Garnish with green onion strips.
Tips  

* Rice sticks (noodles) can be found in the Asian foods section of large supermarkets or in Asian markets. If unavailable, use vermicelli; cook as directed on package.
