Ultimate Melt-in-Your-Mouth Pancakes

You’ll love these melt-in-your-mouth pancakes. Mmm, they’re so light and fluffy.

Ingredients

cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1
cup milk
1
tablespoon sugar
2
tablespoons lemon juice
2
teaspoons baking powder
2
eggs

Directions

  • 1 Heat griddle or skillet over medium-high heat or electric griddle to 375°F; grease with cooking spray, vegetable oil or shortening. (Surface is ready when a few drops of water sprinkled on it dance and disappear.)
  • 2 Stir all ingredients until blended. Pour by slightly less than 1/4 cupfuls onto hot griddle.
  • 3 Cook until edges are dry. Turn; cook until golden. To keep warm, place in single layer on cookie sheet. Cover with aluminum foil, and place in 200°F oven up to 10 minutes.

Valentine Heart-Shaped Breakfast

They say the way to a man’s heart is food.


I’d say the same goes for women too. Helloo, we like to eat too! And, why not really change it up? A candlelit dinner for Valentine’s Day is always appreciated, but heart-shaped pancakes (and bacon!) for breakfast? Now that really says “I love you.”

What you’ll need


To  make your love themed breakfast, all you’ll need is Bisquick (you can make pancakes AND biscuits with it – holla!), eggs, milk, bacon and any other breakfast treats you’d like to serve. If you have a heart-shaped cookie cutter handy, that’s great. If not, no need to fret, you can just cut out your shapes with a knife. No major skills needed!

How to do it


Make your pancakes as you normally would in a few different sizes. Using the cookie cutter or a knife, cut out different size heart shapes. (Don’t throw out the pancake scraps – obviously those are for eating while cooking, a perfectly healthy thing to do.) For the biscuits, you might want to make them larger than normal to be able to get a heart shape out of them. For the eggs, I think a scramble works best for cutting out shapes. Finally, for the bacon, form the uncooked bacon into a heart shape and then start frying away! Arrange your super cute food on a serving plate and wait for the oohs and aahs!

If you need more “oomph” to your plate, add red fruits (like berries or cherries) and powdered sugar to the presentation. YUM!

Display ideas


Serve breakfast in bed! Prepare a tray with a small vase of flowers, pretty napkins and the heart-shaped breakfast for a “sweet” wake up call.

If you’re at the table, serve the food on white plates with a red doily for a classic Valentine’s Day look.

Spell out sweet nothings in whipped cream or chocolate on the plates!

Get even more creative with pancakes and spell out “I love you” in pancakes using alphabet cookie cutters! It’s a love note you can EAT!

For you single people out there, make yourself a heart-shaped breakfast! I think if more people made themselves hear- shaped pancakes; the world just might be a happier place J

Leftovers? Stack cooled pancakes between sheets of waxed paper. Wrap in aluminum foil and freeze. To reheat, unwrap pancakes and removed waxed paper. Heat on ungreased cookie sheet in 400°F oven 5 to 7 minutes or until hot, or microwave uncovered on high until hot.

The lemon juice and baking powder provide a little more “lift” in these pancakes, making them lighter and fluffier than most.

Drizzle these pancakes with warm apple syrup for a taste of heaven.

Stir the batter with a wire whisk or fork just until the ingredients are moistened. Any remaining lumps in the batter will disappear during cooking.
