Wholesome Granola Bars

In this recipe, we´ve combined traditional granola ingredients such as oats, sunflower seeds, raisins, honey and spices and created a wholesome, nutritious bar. When stored in an airtight container, they will stay soft and moist for several days.

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/4  cups firmly packed brown sugar
    • 1/4  cup margarine or butter, softened
    • 2  tablespoons honey
    • 1  egg white
    • 1  cup all purpose flour
    • 1  teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/2  teaspoon baking powder
    • 1  cup quick-cooking rolled oats
    • 1  cup crisp rice cereal
    • 1  cup raisins
    • 1/2  cup shelled sunflower seeds

    Directions

    1. 1Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9-inch pan or spray with nonstick cooking spray. In large bowl, combine brown sugar, margarine, honey and egg white; beat until well blended. Add flour, cinnamon and baking powder; mix well. Stir in oats, cereal, raisins and sunflower seeds. Press mixture firmly in bottom of greased pan.
    2. 2Bake at 350°F. for 14 to 18 minutes or until edges are light golden brown and center appears set. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.
