Throwing a bridal shower is always a tricky balance between cheesy and classy.
You want everyone to have fun, but you don’t want to see all your guests roll their eyes when you suggest a tired out game. It’s a tough crowd out there, bridesmaid!
Don’t worry, Tablespoon’s anything but tired out. We’ve pulled together a list of five bridal shower games that will entertain your guests and leave them with no doubt why you’ve been placed in the bridal party. You’re going to rock this one.
1. Wedding Cake Bake Off
Ask your guests to bring a small cake that best represents the couple. They’re encouraged to use unusual ingredients, shapes and presentations. At the shower, put cakes on a table and have the bride judge each. Prizes are given away for Best Tasting, Least Edible, Most “Us” and Most Creative. For some fun cake ideas, check out these Mini Royal Fruit Cakes, Berry Waffle Wedding Cake, or a pretty Rainbow Layer Cake.
2. Toilet Paper Wedding Dress
Break up into teams of three people each: a model and two designers. Each team then has 15 minutes to design a wedding dress using only toilet paper, tape and a pair of scissors. Make it work!
3. Baby Photo Caption Contest
We’ve all seen the wedding collages of the bride and groom as children. This game takes that one step further. To prep for the shower, select a handful of cute and goofy baby photos of the bride and groom. Arrange these photos around the shower space and place a sheet of paper under each.
As the guests are walking around the room during the party, ask that they think of captions for each photo. At the end of the shower, read the captions to the group and have the bride select her favorite for each.
If you’re feelin’ kinda fancy, this game pairs well with a Wine and Cheese shower theme. Let your guests sip on a variety of wines and nibble on perfectly matched cheeses while they come up with clever captions.
4. Wedding Guest Olympics
Set up an obstacle course of stations throughout the shower space that represent wedding situations, like Open Bar, Catching The Bouquet, Ring Toss and Runaway Bride. Challenge the guests to compete against each other, conquering the stations and arriving to “their seat at the reception” in record time.
5. Mimosa Pong
Some brides just like to party. Now, I’m not going to sit here and tell you to have beer pong anywhere near a bridal shower. This is supposed to be a classy affair of tea sandwiches and elegance! But a mimosa pong table…
