If you’re anything like me, when you see those cute heart-shaped candies on the shelves (on December 26), you grab them like it’s your job!
It’s totally normal to eat conversation hearts for breakfast, followed by a delicious snack of Cinnamon Red Hots, right? It’s the holidays! (Well, it’s a
Whether you bought them for your kid’s Valentine cards, or just candy for your sweetheart, chances are you’ll have some leftover candy. So, make good use of your stash by making cookies!
Pillsbury’s sugar cookie dough is a great all-purpose dough for adding random candies! When I use the dough, I don’t slice it, I roll it into balls. I find that it turns out better that way. Simply bake the cookies per package directions, and have your candy ready to when the cookies come out of the oven. As soon as they come out and are still super duper hot, press your candies gently into the cookies. I used Cinnamon Red Hots, dark chocolate hearts, and conversation hearts for my leftover creations. Without a doubt, the candies make for an adorable variation of cookies that are great for snacks or parties!
If you’re in candy overload and simply don’t want these treats tempting you around the house, why not give them away as a belated Valentine’s Day gift? Better yet, give someone a DIY cookie kit. Include a tube of Pillsbury cookie dough and leftover V-day candies in cute packaging. Attach instructions and see what they come up with!
Need a quick girl’s night? Set out Pillsbury cookie dough and candy, and have a cookie making party! Wine + cookies = good time with your peeps!
If you don’t have leftover candy from Valentine’s Day because…you ate it all yourself… but you still want to partake in the crazy cookie fun, don’t fret! Buy post V-day candy on clearance and save yourself a few bucks. You just might have outsmarted everyone else; you get to finish your candy, and still make the cookies – it’s a win-win!
If you can do it with cookies, you can do it with brownies! Using the same concept, bake the brownies and press in your favorite V-Day candies for an added bonus!
