The idea of “love foods” isn’t new -- in fact, it dates back centuries. Chocolate, which was believed to lower inhibitions and heighten moods, was actually once banned from monasteries. In the 1800’s, bridegrooms were served three courses of asparagus because of its supposed aphrodisiac powers.
But are these love foods just mythical, or is there any science behind their love-inducing powers?
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I needed to know the answer.
There are love foods that are scientifically proven to be edible aphrodisiacs. Here are just a few of the everyday foods you can incorporate into your Valentine’s Day romantic meal to up the love factor:
My husband knows the way to my heart is by my stomach. I would much prefer some nice chocolates to a bouquet of roses that will be dead in a couple of days. So when he wants to get on my good side, he knows a little chocolate goes a long way with me. If there’s a “feel good” ingredient in chocolate, I’m a believer!
