Far from your classic soft-serve, BGIC created its own proprietary dessert in collaboration with a real-deal dairy. East Side King — Austin, Texas
In the spirit of “Keep Austin Weird,” East Side King makes hot-off-the-food-truck inventions you won’t find anywhere else. ESK was founded by two experienced restaurant hands who wanted to have some fun with food — with total creative freedom. Inspired by Asian culture and the city’s vibrant music and art scene, you’ll find creations ranging from spicy Curry Buns to Sapporo Beer Bacon Miso Ramen. East Side King has four locations, each with its own menu, hours, and vibes, making it a favorite pit stop for live music fans at SXSW and year-round.

Fojol Brothers — Washington, D.C.
This self-described “traveling culinary carnival” opened just five years ago in the urban nightlife capital of Adams Morgan. True to the international spirit of D.C., The Brothers’ food is mysteriously global: “Mango Lossipops” and Chicken Masala mix with vaguely tropical dishes from the lands of “Merlindia” and “Benethiopia” (you won’t find them on any map). Besides their exotic vittles, the Fojols are using their culinary powers to make the world better, from serving on 100% compostable and recyclable materials to helping at-risk kids in DC get a fair shot.

Guerilla Street Food, St. Louis, Missouri
Fresh Filipino food in St. Louis, you say? Guerilla Street brings it. The brainchild of a passionate food lover and a St. Louis restaurant veteran, GSF serves archipelago-inspired cuisine made with local and seasonal ingredients, from traditional Filipino fare to inventive new dishes. It’s all made from scratch with the utmost attention to detail. Red Hook Lobster Pound, New York City, New York
Why can’t you get good, fresh lobster in Brooklyn? Thanks to a husband-and-wife duo who love lobster, now you can. Ralph and Susan wheel and deal with Maine lobstermen each week, then haul their fresh, live catches back to create succulent delicacies like lobster rolls and chowder, served from their famous “Big Red” truck and picnic-style dining room in Red Hook. Now they’re making a salty splash with new trucks in Washington D.C. and other lobster-deprived cities of the world. Ahoy!
