An autumn classic, this “recipe” walks you through squash prep. Cooking takes even less time when you use your microwave! MORE + LESS -

Ingredients

Acorn, buttercup or butternut squash
Butter or margarine
Brown sugar

    Cut squash lengthwise into fourths; remove seeds and fibers. Place squash, cut sides up, in baking dish; dot with butter. Top each with a little brown sugar (1 to 3 teaspoons). Pour water into baking dish until 1/4 inch deep.<P>Cover and bake until tender: 325ºF oven 45 minutes, 350ºF oven 40 minutes; 400ºF oven 35 minutes.</P> <P><B>To Microwave:</B> Pierce whole squash with knife in several places to allow steam to escape. Place on paper towel. Microwave on High 4 to 6 minutes or until squash is hot and rind is firm but easy to cut; cool slightly. Carefully cut in half; remove seeds. Arrange halves, cut sides down, on 10-inch plate. Cover and microwave 5 to 8 minutes or until squash is tender when pierced with a knife. Cut squash pieces in half. Arrange squash pieces, cut sides up, on plate. Top each with butter and brown sugar as directed above. Microwave uncovered about 1 minute or until sugar is melted and hot.</P>
