More About This Recipe

  • A quick and easy game-day app!

Bring out the pigskin and pull out your beer stash. Game day is here and it’s time to party!

Though Pinterest will have you believing every party requires a month of prep, two months of salary and three months of recuperation time, I hardly think having a few friends over has to be a big, fat, exhausting affair.

Of course, that doesn’t have to mean boring, basic and blasé soirees. No way! It’s totally possible to make quick snackables that are cool, cute and clever. Plus, they take two ingredients and 15 minutes flat to prep. Easy party ideas that save your existence from hours of kitchen crafting, and totally wow your hairy game pals? Yep. This thing is that thing. And it’s totally a thing.

Chocolate Dipped Bacon. Prepped on pretty skewers. It looks gourmet. It tastes like face-melting glory. And you can basically turn on the tube, pay attention to every single word coming from the announcers, get updated on all the latest stats and still have the creative bandwidth to make so many curly slices of chocolatey bacon skewers, you could basically win the Bacon Bowl. Which should be a thing.

Ready ta get set? Here’s how to score a party touchdown with this superquick snack.

Start with a box of precooked bacon. You can make your own if you’re really feeling crafty, but I took the shortcut and wasn’t sad about it even once.

Pop about 8 pieces of bacon on top of a paper towel on a microwave-safe plate. Then zap until curly and bubbly. Once out of the micro, they’ll be hot! Give them a little while to cool, then once cool enough to touch, quickly thread a warm slice on a 6” wooden skewer.

Once skewered, allow them to cool completely.

Pour some milk or dark chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl (I prefer to use a shallow, elongated dish to accommodate the strips of bacon.)

Then dip one side of the bacon into the melted chocolate.

If you’re having a hard time getting the chocolate into all the right places, just grab a large spoon and scoop some of the chocolate above the lip of your bowl, then gently press the slab ‘o bacon side into the spoon’s chocolate mound.

Place it all on parchment and pop it in the fridge until the chocolate completely cools and hardens.

Time to set up your party table and show off your bacon!

This easy app pairs perfectly with everything you love snacking on for game day: pretzels, popcorn, peanuts—you name it. Enjoy!
