  • 1 jalapeño, stemmed, seeded and coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 packages (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

Steps

  • 1
In a food processor or by hand, chop cranberries and jalapeño to a fine dice.

  • 3
Spread softened cream cheese into a large rimmed dish (a 9-inch pie plate works well). Top cream cheese with cranberry-jalapeño mixture.
  • 4
Cover and place in refrigerator 2 hours to set.
  • 5
    Serve dip with crackers.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
You should always wear kitchen gloves or wash your hands after handling jalapeños, as it can burn if you touch your eyes or face.
  • tip 2
Jalapeño peppers can vary greatly in heat levels. With that in mind, it’s always good to taste a small bite before adding it into a recipe.

More About This Recipe

  • Cranberries and jalapeños may seem like an unusual pair given their very distinct flavors, but the heat from the jalapeños and the tartness of the cranberries balance quite nicely. Add a cream cheese-sugar mixture and this dip gets slightly sweeter, but still offers a hint of spice thanks to cumin and the jalapeños. The best part about this dip (besides the 10-minute prep and need for very few ingredients) is that it can be made ahead of time, so you can have more time putting the finishing touches on your party or getting ready. Easy entertaining is our favorite kind of entertaining so we’ve got more creamy, cheesy dips where this came from.
