Expert Tips

  • In Italian, "crostini" means "little toasts." To make them, a skinny loaf of Italian bread (baguette) is thinly sliced, brushed with oil and toasted in the oven.
  • Garlic and herb cream cheese spread is a soft cream cheese found alongside the regular cream cheese in the grocery store.
  • Toast the bread ahead of time. Cool the slices completely and store them in an airtight plastic bag. Just before serving, spread the crostini with the cream cheese mixture and broil them.
