Garlic-Herb Bread

Ingredients

cup butter or margarine, softened

tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2
teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
1 1/2
teaspoons dried oregano leaves

garlic cloves, finely chopped

loaf (1 pound) French bread, cut into 16 slices

    Heat oven to 400ºF.

    Stir together all ingredients except bread. Spread mixture over both sides of bread slices. Reassemble loaf and wrap securely in heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until hot.

Expert Tips

  • Other herbs can be used in place of the parsley and oregano. You may never make the same bread twice!
  • Really running out of time? Store-bought garlic butter makes a great base for this rich, buttery spread. Stir in Parmesan, parsley and oregano, and spread on bread.
