Expert Tips

  • Mafalda pasta is available in long narrow strips as well as in short pieces. Use the short pieces for this recipe.
  • Other cheeses can be used in this casserole in place of the Swiss. Try cheddar, colby-Monterey Jack blend or Gouda.
  • To prepare perfect pasta, bring a generous amount of water to a rapid boil. Add pasta and keep water boiling. Cook until al dente, tender but still slightly firm. Test pasta for doneness by running a piece under cold water and then biting through it.
